I use this, but Ive noticed in some browsers like IE, it just doesnt refresh so I just put the CLICK HERE IF YOUR BROWSER DOES NOT REDIRECT YOU link.

I was reading about this meta refresh and some sites say the search engines may ban you for doing this is that true??

In addition, it is against one of my major merchants terms and conditions as it falls into automatically planting the tracking cookie.

I like your Idea though wish I could use it.

    Thank You XOXO

I’m curious. If you have a partner account and a non-partner account. Can you turn your non-partner account into a paying one?

Hello, Lisa on the fourth line is that supposed to be (<) in front or is it good the way it is.

  9. Inventor3006 says:

    Hey Lisa,
I was going to send you a detail explanation on using htaccess but I see that
there are dozens of videos here that already do that.

I like the fact that everything is in just one file.
The only drawback to that is if you make a mistake on just one line
the whole file is dead, so you have to double and triple check everything
    before you upload it.

    Take Care,
    Grandpa Bill

it would be alot better to create a system via one simple php folder and a mysql database including the short links and there redirect link. But this would be for more of an advanced programmer.
    Good tutorial though!!

    Hi Lisa,

to be honest, I like the meta refresh methode the least out of the 3 ways I know.

    1) Meta Refresh (your way)
    2) .htaccess redirect
    3) PHP redirect using header();

I don’t like the Meta refresh mainly cause it happens that some Security programs, add filters etc. block zero seconds meta refresh. I also noticed that sometimes, for what ever reason, the meta refresh is just stuck.

Using a simple PHP file with header(yoururl); works best in my experience, plus you can track the hits :)

@opticseo since she began back then, I guess it is simplicity that is the advantage.

    Thanks so much for sharing!

  14. opticseo says:

Lisa, do you see any advantage to his over php header redirect?

  15. eskariman says:

Thanks Lisa for the video. It was great as always. I am a little slow these days so will go over it again and when I do I am sure I will be able to use this tip to my advantage.

Thanks again and have a great Labor Day.

@troglodyte3344 interesting name, l was going to ask the same question?

  19. lisa3876 says:

@troglodyte3344 Most affiliate programs I belong to have tracking systems within the programs (CJ.com, SiteSell, etc.) so I use theirs. Then I use my own meta refresh to shorten the actual tracking links.

  20. aherrod2007 says:

Thanks Lisa! I’ve done this myself, but wasn’t sure if iis the best way. It’s nice to know that a super affiliate is doing the same thing.

  21. troglodyte3344 says:

How do you track your clicks?

  22. troglodyte3344 says:

Its a good technique, I use it too. I also put my analytics code on the page and a noindex for the robots. Nice video.
